STUDIO MUGO has been selected alongside Châtillon Architectes to restructure the Quadrilatère building in Beauvais. Designed by André Hermant and inaugurated in 1976, the site is being transformed into a contemporary art museum and a Heritage and Architecture Interpretive Centre (Centre d’Interprétation de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine – CIAP). On the grounds of this exceptional domain STUDIO MUGO will create a garden, looking outward and towards the cathedral, and also inward to offer a view over the museum’s art pieces. Part of the garden will be used as an outside exhibition area, delimited by semi-circular seating. There will be areas of natural shade and coolness in the garden and the East side will benefit from a more intimate space. The cathedral will be connected to the garden through trails and a (wild)flower meadow matching the rich, luxurious and flower-covered meadow of the museum. The terrace of the cafe will be designed to allow customers to take breaks and have a drink.
