Frédéric Jousset, a businessman, a benefactor and founding CEO of the Art Explora cultural foundation, has chosen landscape designer Christian Fournet and Urban Act for the rehabilitation of the historic site of the Chalais pond, designed by Le Nôtre in the 18th century, and Hangar Y located within Meudon national forest (92).
After designing the gardens of Relais de Chambord in 2018 on behalf of Fédéric Jousset, Christian Fournet tackles a prime historical site.
The work involves designing a landscaped park of artistic nature on the edge of the Meudon forest and redeveloping the historical axis imagined by Le Nôtre. The project conceived by Christian Fournet and Urban Act in cooperation with DRAC Île-de-France is a mix of historical continuity and contemporary vision.
It will be implemented in different stages:
- Restore the banks of the basin and the development of a waterfront promenade
- Design a new entrance and a landscaped atrium around the Hangar Y
- Create trails inside the wooded site as well as fun activities for children
- Recreate Le Nôtre’s long lost green carpet to bring back the historical feature of the basin as a mirror of the landscape
Christian Fournet’s team is very proud for being entrusted to carry out the redevelopment of this historical site in favour of the Art Explora foundation.
