STUDIO MUGO has won the “Années 70” (1970s) call for projects for the former Hôtel des Postes of Grenoble, alongside GR Immobilier, Air Nouvelle and the architecture firms Ecdm, Wimm et Memo.
The project will start with the preservation of this exceptional high-rise building in order to continue its remarkable heritage and history. STUDIO MUGO’s environmental approach can be seen through its primary choice of natural native species and a willingness to let nature re- establish itself in the city. The building becomes a hub for biodiversity while offering comfort to its residents.
Various types of natural spaces will be created: a natural inaccessible terrace to serve as a refuge for biodiversity, communal garden-terraces with a community-based management, beech and spruce trees as well as pre-Alpine vegetation, installed in crevices and hanging pots. The urban block will open up onto the city thanks to its centre, which will lead directly onto the district at ground level.
A differentiated management system will be put in place to support and monitor the evolution of the architecture colonization by the plants.
